  • India won the 1st Test match by 280 runs vs Bangladesh in 1st Test

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali hailed the Indian team's bowling line-up and called it on level with Pakistani pace legends like Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar and Waqar Younis. His praise came after India won the first Test match against Bangladesh at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. India's bowling attack was key in registering an emphatic win by a 280-run margin against Bangladesh. Ravichandran Ashwin's 6/88 in Bangladesh's 4th innings chase of 515 helped India bundle them out at 234 to emerge victorious.

"The Indian bowling unit is so impactful that they are on level with pacers Wasim Akram, Shoaib Akhtar, and Waqar Younis. Right now, Mohammed Shami is not playing," Basit said on his YouTube channel, where he acknowledged that the bowling lineup looked really strong despite the absence of Mohammed Shami, who is recovering from ankle surgery and has been out of action.

Indian pacers wreak havoc on Chennai pitch

Jasprit Bumrah also played a crucial role in Bangladesh's 1st innings as he picked up a four-wicket haul. With this, he reached the 400 international wicket milestone and became the third-fastest Indian pacer to do so. The first two days of the Test were conducive to fast bowling and Bumrah made full use of the pitch to bundle Bangladesh out for a paltry total of 149 with his figures of 4/50. He was supported well by Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj, who picked two wickets each.

Mayank Yadav for Australia?

Basit Ali also recalled Mayank Yadav and expressed his desire to see the Delhi pacer in Australia for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy series.

"Mayank Yadav's ball is very dangerous. His bouncer is accurate. I wish to see him play a Test match in Australia," he added.

Mayank Yadav hogged the limelight during IPL 2024 for Lucknow Super Giants and garnered praises for w his immaculate pace and accuracy, which caused havoc to the batters.
However, he was sidelined due to a side strain injury after only four games, where he picked up seven wickets at an average of 12.14.
