India vs Bangladesh, Kanpur Test Day 4 Highlights

India raced their way to taking a 52-run lead as they declared their innings at 285 for nine in 34.4 overs. Mehidy, who picked up four wickets and completed 300 international wickets, credited the home team for showing intent right from the outset with their attacking stroke-play.

“In Test cricket, we see different scenarios and today, it was like a T20. India came with a plan and mindset of winning, the way they scored runs from top to bottom. We tried to restrict them, but credit goes to them and they are also a top team with experienced and world-class players,” Mehidy said in the press conference.

‘We have to think about our safety’

Earlier, Mominul Haque scored an unbeaten 107 and Mehidy said that the left-hander did not get enough support from the other batters. “Mominul bhai batted really well, but we could not give him enough support. Had we supported him, the match could have been different,” Mehidy said.

Mehidy, who also scored 20 vital runs in the first innings, said that Bangladesh will try and save the match by batting “as long as possible” in their second innings.

“We are in such a situation that we have to think about our safety. We will try and bat as long as possible, which will benefit our team,” Mehidy added.

Bangladesh, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, trailed by 26 runs at Stumps with eight wickets left in their second innings.
