India began their long season of Test cricket with a thumping win in Chennai. All eyes have been on workload management, especially for the pacers. It was widely anticipated that Jasprit Bumrah would be rested for the second Test. However, India have retained the full-strength squad.

It looks likely that India will rest Jasprit Bumrah for the second Test, considering the long season ahead. After the Kanpur Test against Bangladesh, India will play three Tests against New Zealand in October-November. India will then play a five-Test Border-Gavaskar Trophy since 1991-92. India will need their pace-bowling unit to be at its best for what is expected to be a draining series.

Captain Rohit Sharma was thrilled with India's dominant show in Chennai on a pitch that did was quite different to the norm in home Test matches.

"It was a great result looking what lies ahead. Playing after a while but you are in touch with the game. Need to be working as a group, had a good lead-up and got the win," Rohit said.
