This milestone places Ashwin as the second-highest wicket-taker in Asia's Test cricket history, behind only Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan, who leads with 612 wickets. Anil Kumble, a legendary Indian spinner himself, now holds third place with 419 wickets. Other notable bowlers on the list include Rangana Herath with 354 wickets and Harbhajan Singh with 300.
