You'd have to think that Roy Keane chuckled when he heard the news.

There are reports that Mick McCarthy will be going into the jungle in November to take part in ITV hit show 'I'm A Celebrity, Get Out of Here'.

Cork actor Eanna Hardwicke will be playing Keane, with Steve Coogan of Alan Partridge fame taking on the role of McCarthy.

The film is due to hit cinemas next summer, but McCarthy may well be in the limelight before then.

Keane will probably have a laugh if it does come to pass as he actually considered making a similar move.

Ten years ago, Keane gave a series of interviews to plug his autobiography and this is what he told Shortlist magazine.

"I’ve had the Celebrity Big Brother offers and the jungle stuff (I’m A Celebrity) I met the jungle people, but I thought, 'Nah, not for me','' said Keane.

"But the more you say no, the more determined they are to get you, so who knows? There's more to life than football."

The show is fronted by Ant and Dec and Ant McPartlin confirmed two years ago that Keane had been approached.

"Roy Keane would be very good," he said. "We’ve asked him on a few occasions.

"And he’s been close, he has been close to saying yes so come on Roy Keane. Do it for the lads, son!"
