Darts prodigy Luke Littler has been raking in the prize money since his remarkable breakthrough at the start of the year - but the teenager is not exactly splashing the cash.

The 17-year-old stunned the sports world by finishing runner-up at the PDC World Championship in January, but he's shown that was no fluke. Littler bagged his ninth title of the year at the Players Championship 20 event in Wigan this week, pocketing another £15k.

He held off a strong comeback from Stephen Bunting to secure an 8-7 win at the Robin Park Tennis Centre, extending his winning streak to 12 matches. It was hot on the heels of his victory at the World Series of Darts in Amsterdam last weekend, which gave Littler another £80k payday.

Those consecutive wins netted the teenager a cool £95k. But unlike some young sports stars who might splurge on expensive cars or designer clothes, Littler has kept his spending habits modest.

When asked about his most extravagant purchase since making it big, the teenager responded with a chuckle, "I bought myself a nice bag,".

It seems Littler isn't planning to fritter away his growing wealth, which began with his £200k prize money from the World Championship. The PDC Order of Merit is determined by prize money and Littler currently ranks 22nd with winnings totalling £364,500.

The full extent of Luke Littler's earnings isn't captured by the official figures, though, as the world rankings do not count his Premier League success. The young darts star scooped £40k for his nightly victories during the season and then hit the £275k jackpot in May by overcoming Luke Humphries in the final.

Additionally, his recent World Series of Darts victory, which added £80k to his winnings, doesn't factor into the PDC rankings.

Earlier this year, the teenage sensation admitted he had used some of his prize money on Ultimate Team, the addictive game within the EA FC series, previously known as FIFA. The feature allows players to invest real money in player packs to assemble top-tier teams and the Manchester United supporter spent big to make his dream lineup.

"My ultimate team? That's what I spend my money on. Petr Cech, he's good," Littler shared with The Times. "This'll go down well, then: [Vincent] Kompany and [Virgil] van Dijk at the back.

"Trent [Alexander-Arnold] at right-back. [Gianfranco] Zola, Thierry Henry, [Harry] Kane, [Michael] Essien. You've got to spend money to get that team. That's what I've always done. When I win money, I just treat myself, buy some packs, get some good players."
