Conor McGregor has incredibly claimed that he is "the greatest fighter on God’s green earth".

The Dubliner, who has not fought in over three years, made the claim on social media over the weekend, just weeks after attending Daniel Dubois' win over Anthony Joshua in London. It remains unclear when McGregor's next fight will take place.

The former two-weight champion was scheduled to face Michael Chandler at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas during the summer, but the bout was scrapped after McGregor suffered a broken toe in training. Chandler will instead now face Charles Oliveira at Madison Square Garden in November.

However, despite his long absence from the Octagon and the fact that he has won just once in almost eight years, McGregor seemingly believes that he is the best fighter in the world. He wrote on X in the early hours of Sunday morning: "I am the greatest fighter on God’s green earth. My IQ is level: Alien."

The post saw numerous comments left by fans, the majority of which clearly disagreed with McGregor's claim. One wrote: "Says the one who doesn’t fight anymore. Funny."

Another commented: "When was even the last time you fought and won." Someone else added: "But when you coming back to prove that statement? Cant talk that talk no more, you need to prove it."

However, some people backed up McGregor's claim, with one fan writing: "LoL, you are the Goat and there is no doubt about it!"

Someone else stated: "Everyone can say what they want But Conor is a real G Not afraid of anyone Got the the top Now enjoying his life."

Giving an update on his future as he attended Dubois' win over Joshua at Wembley last month, McGregor told DAZN: "It will be 2025."

He continued: "We will see. My opponent that I had scheduled... it is what it is. I take it on board and rock on. My job is to go to the gym and be in shape. Whenever it is and wherever it is. I will be 100 per cent ready. I must get two fights in 2025. It's the promised land. Who knows (who the next opponent will be). It does not matter. Whoever, let's see. I like it to be Chandler. I wish him well and see where it goes."

McGregor also admitted he may not commit his future to the UFC after the final two fights of his contract. "I don't know. I don't think anyone knows. What happens afterwards, as I'm a free agent, I'm not sure," he added.
