Rival wary of Tottenham and Newcastle’s threat for signing – Belief PL duo in contact with entourage

Last month, we covered claims from Italy that Lille star Jonathan David is on the radar at Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United.

The striker’s impressive performances for the Ligue 1 side and contract situation makes him an attractive option in the market. He has less than a year left on his deal.

Barcelona are considering signing him on a free transfer next summer. That’s according to Sport, who say they have to be wary of competition from Tottenham, Newcastle and other clubs.

The Canada international has starred for Lille since joining them from KAA Gent in 2020.

He managed 92 goals and 20 assists, of which eight goals and two assists are from this season. This includes a winner in his side’s 1-0 Champions League win over Real Madrid earlier this week.

The 24-year-old is a great market opportunity for the Catalan club. As well as Barcelona, Tottenham, Newcastle, Arsenal and Manchester United have him on their target list for 2025. In addition to these, Juventus and Inter Milan are his suitors.

These are clubs are mentioned before Sport say several clubs have contacted the player’s environment. Barca, for their part, are worried there’s ‘even more limelight’ on the frontman, after his winner against Real Madrid.

Sport indicate David is unlikely to sign an extension. It’ll be interesting to see where he’ll end up next year.
