Frenchman says Liverpool defender ‘best in world’ – La Liga man sees him as inspiration

Romain Perraud moved to Real Betis on a permanent transfer in the summer window, having failed to really make the most of his time with Southampton.

The left-back spent last season on loan at Nice, yet the French club didn’t use the option to buy they’d previously agreed.

Speaking to El Correo de Andalucia, Perraud has taken time to praise a Liverpool player, sending a huge chunk of praise to Andrew Robertson.

Perraud sees the 30-year-old Liverpool defender as something of an inspiration, despite only being three years younger than him.

The Betis player explained he looks up to the Scotland national team captain and watches him to help improve his own game.

El Correo quote him as saying: “For the last four or five years, I think the best left-back in the world is Robertson from Liverpool. When I have time, it’s important for me to see his ability to play in this position. He’s a very, very good example.”

Perraud appears to be having a better time at Real Betis than he has had elsewhere in recent seasons, having already played seven matches for the club this season.

The defender also took time out to praise Giovani Lo Celso, who arrived at Real Betis from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer. He called the Argentina international a magician and insists he’ll be of huge help this season.
