Everton player ‘perfect’ January target for Club – One factor can ‘facilitate negotiations’ with Toffees

AS Roma are considering signing Everton striker Beto in the winter market.

That’s at least what ASRomaLive.it are reporting, and they say Beto is the ‘perfect name’ for the backup role at the Serie A side.

The Giallorossi sacked Daniele De Rossi and replaced him with Ivan Jurić last month. The current manager has Artem Dovbyk as the recognised striker, with Eldor Shomurodov as his backup.

Jurić isn’t pleased with Shomurodov and is looking for the club to sign another backup for Dovbyk. This is where the Everton player has emerged as a candidate.

The Portuguese spent two years at Udinese before joining The Toffees in August 2023. The 26-year-old managed five goals and two assists from 1,159 minutes from 37 matches last season and has three goals and an assist from seven games this season.

Roma are owned by the Friedkin Group, who recently agreed a deal to become Everton’s new custodians. They are now waiting for the regulators to approve the sale.

The report now states the connection between the two clubs could ‘facilitate negotiations’ between Everton and Roma for Beto in January. He has a contract lasting until 2027.

It feels unlikely… and if Roma do really want to sign a striker from Everton then perhaps they could do the Toffees a favour and pay €20m+ for the six months which will be left on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s contract.
