From Germany: Daniel Niedzkowski to Brighton is happening and is huge loss for DFB

by · Sport Witness

At the end of October, we covered reports from Germany which stated Daniel Niedzkowski was on the verge of moving to Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Premier League club were presented as being in advanced talks to secure the 47-year-old and adding him to the coaching set-up currently headed by Fabian Hürzeler.

This week’s edition of SportBild presents the move to Brighton as a sure thing, and explains what a loss it will be to the DFB. Niedzkowski is described as the ‘chief trainer’ at DFB.

He’s been assistant coach with Germany’s U21 side, but also leads DFB’s Pro License course. At the DFB Academy, coaches move through to working with Niedzkowski and eventually getting their A-License which allows them to move into professional football.

Therefore, the soon-to-be Brighton employee has had a huge influence across football in Germany.

SportBild explain Brighton see a wide role for Niedzkowski. He’ll partly support Hürzeler, but also work to build coaching structures for the Seagulls, and look to improve the transition from youth teams to senior team.

DFB are now looking for a successor.
