Player says he’s “feeling good” after Southampton exit – Didn’t expect to have flying start

Ché Adams left Southampton when his contract with them expired in June.

Southampton confirmed that they wanted to retain the striker, but he wasn’t in favour of signing a new deal. On July 23rd, he ended up joining Torino on a free transfer.

Last weekend, Adams revealed it was a “very simple” decision to leave Southampton. He’s now given another interview, to TuttoMercatoWeb, to discuss his new life in Serie A.

When asked what ‘struck him the most’ about his time Italy, the 28-year-old stated he’s happy with the support he has received so far.

“The people are nice, they were all nice. I’m feeling good, it’s something I really appreciate,” he said.

The Scotland international spent his entire career in the UK before arriving at the Turin club. He’s scored four goals and registered two assists from eight games for Torino, who are fifth in the table, two points behind leaders Napoli.

“The season started well, I scored many goals. I want to help the team. The fans are helping me a lot to gain confidence in scoring. Italy suits my characteristics, I feel comfortable both starting from the beginning and taking over during the match,” Adams explained.

“He [Torino manager Paolo Vanoli] asks a lot of the attackers, lots of combinations between the strikers and I’m happy with it”

When TMW asked the former Southampton man ‘did you expect this impact’, he added: “No…I played every match and they were all different, I like playing in this team and I’m happy.”

On the ‘biggest difficulty’ he has faced in Italy, Adams said: “Here the teams are more defensive, there is less space in attack. And so it reminds me a bit of a chess game.”
