Newcastle United star 'could be the answer' to England problems after Arsenal display

England could have found the answer to their left-back problems in Newcastle United's Lewis Hall - according to former Tottenham and West Ham manager Harry Redknapp.

The Three Lions have struggled for a consistent selection on the left-side of their defence in recent years, with injuries means Luke Shaw and Ben Chilwell's opportunities have been restricted. Newcastle's Kieran Trippier played out of position at left-back for the majority of EURO24, and the role could continue to be a headache for new manager Thomas Tuchel.

However experienced Premier League manager Redknapp has been hugely impressed with Hall this season - and fellow United full-back Tino Livramento - with his display against Arsenal's Bukayo Saka in Saturday's 1-0 victory for Eddie Howe's side, catching the eye.

Hall and Livrmanento feature in Redknapp's Premier League team of the week, with Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes also making the XI after a dominant performance in midfield. The England squad for the November internationals is announced this week, and Redknapp feels Hall could soon find himself in the senior group.

"That was massive for Newcastle against Arsenal," Redknapp told football betting site BetVictor. "Both the full-backs were absolutely brilliant, and they both get in my side. I’ve always liked Tino Livramento, and he seems to be getting better and better. He’s got a great turn of pace, and he cruised through the game against Gabriel Martinelli. England are crying out for a young left-back and Lewis Hall could be the answer. He’s taken a little bit of time to really settle at Newcastle, but he’s been terrific of late and was superb against Arsenal. Bukayo Saka is one of the best wingers in world football but he stuck to his job and didn’t give much away. I was very impressed.

"Bruno Guimaraes ran the game in midfield for Newcastle. Now he’s got the armband, he really does lead and inspire his side. He’s a master of controlling the tempo of the game and very rarely wastes a ball when he has it. He’s one of the best midfielders in the country."
