Eddie Howe linked with shock Newcastle exit as Amanda Staveley prepares next takeover move

Amanda Staveley is looking to invest in Spurs according to reports and Eddie Howe has been linked with a move to the club if she is successful

Amanda Staveley's potential investment in Tottenham Hotspur could lead to a reunion with Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe, according to reports.

Following consecutive defeats to Newcastle and their North London rivals last month, Spurs had turned their form around with five consecutive wins, but a disappointing loss to Brighton & Hove Albion before the international break brought that run to an end.

Ange Postecoglou described it as the worst defeat of his tenure, and recent speculation about a partial takeover has only added to the uncertainty surrounding his future. If Staveley were to secure a stake in the club, it could increase the pressure on Postecoglou, given her past working relationship with Howe at Newcastle.

According to The Sun, if Staveley becomes involved with the club, Howe would become their top target as they remain strong admirers of his work. When Newcastle appointed Howe as head coach three years ago, Staveley expressed her admiration for him, stating that they were "incredibly impressed" during the recruitment process and describing him as a "passionate and dynamic coach".

This appointment came a month after the takeover, following the departure of Steve Bruce, who left by mutual consent two weeks after the change in ownership. However, drawing parallels between that scenario and Postecoglou's current predicament seems a bit far-fetched, reports football.london..

The Newcastle supporters had already lost faith in their manager at that point, whereas any potential managerial change at Tottenham in the near future would probably not garner widespread support.

Nonetheless, any partial acquisition seems set to be a protracted affair, affording Postecoglou some time to either enhance or potentially deteriorate his standing. The Sun reports that despite Staveley's apparent eagerness to invest in the club, the finalisation of any deal is not close.
