Wilson Isidor's 'perfect' attitude key to Sunderland success
by Clive Youlton · ChronicleLiveWilson Isidor is delighting Regis Le Bris with his goals and all-round play. The Black Cats head coach reckons he has the perfect attitude to succeed while on loan from Zenit.
“He wants to improve and is very connected. His profile matches very well with what we needed to improve our game. He is very oriented to run in behind. He is very generous with good timing. The connection with our striker in behind was very important because we can create a chance with just one pass.
“We have a better connection with Eliezer [Mayenda] and Aaron [Connelly] too. We have worked a lot on the sides with our triangles. If our striker runs in behind we have space to exploit and then we have the other spaces to exploit. We probably have a better balance in our game in possession and it's a good orientation for us.”
Le Bris revealed there is no standout leader in the dressing room too. “As a group it’s a connection and it’s probably a good sign,” he added. “If the leadership is only built on one or two players it’s not the best way to perform on the pitch.
“So it’s a question of local leadership on the pitch [in areas] and it’s interesting to feel it. It’s not only one person, it’s a group and that is our strength at the moment.”
Chris Mepham has also made a big impression and Le Bris said: “He is very important because of his level, his behaviour, his experience and he is very connected with the way we want to improve. He has been a gift.”
