Liverpool have been hit with a significant setback as goalkeeper Alisson Becker is anticipated to be out of action for six weeks. The 32 year old Brazilian international sustained a hamstring injury during the recent Premier League triumph over Crystal Palace, exiting the pitch with just 11 minutes left.

According to the PA news agency, assessments indicate that Alisson is unlikely to be match-ready until after the upcoming international break. This suggests that his earliest possible return could be for the Southampton game on November 24. Liverpool are set to come to St James' Park to face Newcastle United on December 4.

This news arrives at an inconvenient time for Arne Slot's squad, with crucial fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal looming this month, as well as Champions League clashes with RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen. Caoimhin Kelleher, absent from the Palace game due to illness, is expected to step in, as he did last season when Alisson was sidelined for over two months with another hamstring injury.

Meanwhile, former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been named as Red Bull's global head of soccer.

The 57-year-old German left Anfield in the summer after almost a decade in charge, during which he won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, Club World Cup, Super Cup and two League Cups. Klopp will join Red Bull on January 1, overseeing the company's network of clubs.
