DPS Bokaro to host CBSE Cluster-III Basketball Tournament

DPS Bokaro will host the four-day CBSE Cluster-III Inter-School Basketball Tournament, set to take place from 24-27 September 2024 in Bokaro. The event is expected to draw around 1,200 players from 64 CBSE-affiliated schools across Jharkhand and Bihar, competing in the Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19 categories.

 

Addressing media persons, Dr. A.S. Gangwar, Principal of DPS Bokaro and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, said, "We are honoured to host this prestigious tournament. Our preparations have been comprehensive, and our focus has been on ensuring the safety and comfort of every participant."  

 

A total of 123 teams will participate in the tournament, with each age group competing for a chance to advance to the CBSE National Tournament. The breakdown includes 19 boys' and 15 girls' teams in the Under-14 category, 31 boys' and 16 girls' teams in the Under-17 category, and 24 boys' and 17 girls' teams in the Under-19 category. Over the next four days, approximately 25-30 matches will be held daily, culminating in 116 matches overall.

 

The winners from this Cluster level competition will move on to the CBSE National Tournament, with the girls' competition scheduled in Indore from 9-13 October and the boys' competition in Agra from 14-20 October 2024.

 

Former Olympian and President of the Jharkhand Basketball Association, Harbhajan Singh, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. National Cycling Champion Satbir Singh Sahota will attend as Guest of Honour. The closing ceremony on 27 September will feature Umakant Singh, Coach of the Indian National Girls' Basketball Team, as the Chief Guest for the prize distribution.
