The veteran defenceman has been with the Flames throughout training camp on a professional tryout agreement and late Thursday afternoon the team announced that Barrie has agreed to terms on a one-year deal worth US$1.25 million.

The 33-year-old has played in 809 NHL games, most recently spending the past season-and-a-half with the Nashville Predators. He’s proven to be a gifted creator in the offensive end, scoring 109 goals and adding 396 assists, and could be an option on the Flames’ second power-play unit this season. His 505 career points are 11th-most among active NHL blueliners heading into the 2024-25 season.
