The U.S. military struck more than a dozen Houthi targets on Friday, going after weapons systems, bases and other equipment belonging to the Iranian-backed terrorists.

The U.S. military said it carried out 15 strikes on Friday against targets linked to Iran-aligned Houthi fighters in Yemen, where residents reported blasts at military outposts and even an airport. The Houthis have been attacking ships in the Red Sea in solidarity with Hamas, and the U.S. attacks were aimed at securing international waterways.

US forces on Friday hit 15 targets in Huthi-controlled areas of Yemen, the US military said.

Military aircraft and warships bombed Iranian-backed rebel strongholds in five locations days after American warships were fired at in the Red Sea.

The strikes come just days after the Houthis threatened “escalating military operations” targeting Israel after they apparently shot down a U.S. military drone flying over Yemen.

Iran-aligned Houthi militants have launched attacks on international shipping near Yemen since last November in solidarity with Palestinians in Israel's war with Hamas.
