Three killer Kamloops pit bulls expected to be put down
Three dogs that killed a border collie in Kamloops are set to be put down after a bylaw investigation. The matter will go before a judge later this month, but City community services manager Will Beatty said the dogs were not only found to have killed the 12-year-old collie, but they were all deemed dangerous — enough of a risk that they should be put to death."Community safety is my number one decision maker," Beatty said. "It's my responsibility to make sure these dogs don't have the opportunity to do this again."The Community Services, or bylaw department, investigation looked at the evidence around the Sept. 8 death to determine all three pit bulls were responsible, but it also included evidence from people who have been around the dogs before, a veterinary assessment and a behavioural assessment.READ MORE: BC predator isolated elderly woman from friends and family, then swiped $1MThe City could deem dogs "aggressive" rather than "dangerous," which comes with higher licensing costs and responsibilities that…
