At least 33 people have been killed in an Israeli strike on a refugee camp in Gaza - including women and children.

The Israeli military says its operation in Jabalia is intended to stop Hamas fighters regrouping for more attacks.

Residents of Jabalia said the Israeli army was destroying dozens of houses daily, from the air and the ground, and by placing bombs in buildings then detonating them remotely.

Despite the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, which raised hopes for a de-escalation, the situation in the Middle East remains tense.
