Canada has banned an Australian media outlet from broadcasting a briefing by India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. The event, where Jaishankar criticised Canada's allegations and its treatment of anti-India elements, has raised questions regarding Canada's commitment to freedom of speech, sparking a reaction from the Ministry of External Affairs.

Randhir Jaiswal said that Canada has banned an important diaspora outlet 'Australia Today', which is no longer available for viewers in Canada.

'We were surprised. It looks strange to us. But nonetheless, what I say is that these are actions which yet again highlight the hypocrisy of Canada towards freedom of speech,' the external affairs ministry spokesman said.
