22nd of October marked the end of the 17-day hunger strike of Junior doctors which began on the 5th of October after being requested by the parents of the victim who was raped and murdered at the RG Kar Hospital and Medical College. The hunger strike was organised by the The West Bengal Junior Doctors’ Front (WBJDF) demanding justice for their colleague and improvements in hospital safety conditions. The decision to call off the strike came after a two-hour meeting with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee. The protestors were given some assurances in the meeting. Though doctors ended the hunger strike, they seemed dissatisfied and raised fingers against the body language of the authorities.
