A mentally ill man who killed 10 people at a Colorado supermarket in 2021 was convicted Monday of murder and faces life in prison.

He started shooting immediately after getting out of his car in a King Soopers store parking lot in March 2021, killing most of the victims in just over a minute and surrendering after an officer shot him in the leg.

Rejecting an insanity defense, a Colorado jury has convicted a man diagnosed with the severe mental disorder schizophrenia of first-degree murder in a 2021 mass shooting at a grocery store in the city of Boulder that killed ten people including a police officer.

Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa was sentenced to life in prison for the 2021 mass shooting. His lawyers had argued that he was not guilty by reason of insanity.

Sept. 23 (UPI) -- A Colorado jury on Monday found Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa guilty on all counts in the March 2021 mass shooting at a King Soopers supermarket in Boulder County that killed 10 people.
