An FIR was filed against Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy, and JD(S) MLA Suresh Babu over alleged threats against an investigating officer in a mining case.

The IPS officer heads the Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the Karnataka Lokayukta that is probing a case in which H.D. Kumaraswamy is an accused.

Karnataka Police registered an FIR against Kumaraswamy, on Tuesday as per the directions of a court.
