The jury has been sworn at the High Court in a civil case being taken by a woman against Conor McGregor and another man over an alleged sexual assault.

Justice Alexander Owens said it is alleged Conor McGregor and another man had 'in effect raped' Nikita Ni Laimhin in December 2018.

Former two-weight world champion McGregor is facing a civil assault claim in Dublin, brought by a woman who accuses him of sexual assault in 2018, with a judge saying the allegation is that McGregor "in effect, raped her"

The judge said that the jury were judges of fact and were not to think "anything that glitters is gold", not to discuss the case with others and not to be "private detectives" doing their own research
