The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has uploaded 4.5% of the results from the ongoing Edo State governorship election onto its INEC Result

This move, according to the party, aims to prevent any manipulation or alteration by the opposition party.

Observers have reported cases of vote buying by both the PDP and APC agents during Saturday's governorship election in Edo State.

Governor Godwin Obaseki says the turnout and enthusiasm of the electorate was high in spite of the weather.

The EFCC earlier arrested three suspected vote-buyers at Egor Local Government Area of the state.

An earlier report suggested that the late arrival may have been caused by heavy rainfall.

It is unclear how much voters are being paid in exchange for their votes.

Mr Oshiomhole said the police had to filter the system so that the will of the majority of the people who want democracy can prevail.

The PDP accused the APC of collaborating with the police to harass and intimidate its supporters in Edo State.

There have been reports of delays in voting in many polling units in the state.

Mr Akpata spoke to journalists after casting his vote at his polling unit at Iyaro in Benin City, the state capital, on Saturday.

YIAGA said cumulatively only about 41 per cent of polling units witnessed the arrival of INEC officials by 7:30 a.m. and only 17 per cent of polling units commenced accreditation and voting.

“Vote buying is a financial crime, and the EFCC won’t allow it anywhere.”

The police said the suspects are PDP members.

The rain fell heavily when Governor Obaseki arrived at the polling unit.
