Holidaymakers in Turkey are being warned of a 'big time scam'. Tourists have been told that they need to be 'very careful' in some parts of the country.

According to TikToker Scott, British travellers needed to be on alert when on trips in Armutalan, Marmaris. He often documents life in Turkey on his account official_scottylum2.

Scott admitted he would never tell people not to visit the area as it offers the 'kind of vibe' tourists want on holiday. But he warned of scam which many people have fallen victim to - and said you should leave one thing in your hotel room.

In the clip, he said: "Try to not bring your bank card out. Me personally, I got scammed for a considerable amount of money. I'm not even going to go into it, but be careful of people looking at you while you type your card number in.

"Be very vigilant here. Now, also be very careful of the drinks here. I've made a video about this before. Just be very careful with them."

Scott said travellers also needed to be mindful of bar staff giving them 'concoctions' of different types of alcohol, Express reports. He urged people to be careful when ordering fishbowls and to check what is in them.

The TikToker said tourists should pay for their drinks one at a time as some places could be 'adding drinks on willy nilly'. People commented on his video, which has been viewed 70,000 times.

One person said: "I've been to Marmaris for years, and it's always been fine for me." Another added: "I lived in Armutalan and was very safe walking home at 2am."

Some tourists admitted they had seen some changes in recent years. One chimed in and said: "Armutalan is my favourite but, I've just come back, and this year you do need to keep your whits about you. Area is lovely, staffy not pushy at all."

Another replied: "I don't like it in Armutalan." One person wrote: "I went there about 20 years ago, it was so peaceful. It's changed so much."
