DWP says four groups of people who claim PIP can come forward for £737

People who claim Personal Independence Payment (PIP) from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) have been urged to check for £737 payments. For certain groups of people, a £737.20 cash award is available from the benefits department .

The duration of PIP can depend but according to DWP latest figures, over 1.5 million people, or 42.4% of the 3.6m PIP claimants have an award lasting five years or longer. Individuals suffering with musculoskeletal conditions, more than half of claimants, have been granted a longer award and includes conditions such as arthritis and muscle or joint pain.

Around 49.5% suffering with neurological conditions including muscular dystrophy, epilepsy or multiple sclerosis also qualify for longer awards. Most claimants will have the PIP award regularly reviewed, states the DWP “regardless of the length of the award”.

This review allows “everyone to receive the most appropriate levels of support” but some will receive a limited term award of up to two years. Light touch reviews apply if you are over 66, or have a severe, lifelong condition and get the enhanced rate of both daily living and mobility components

If light touch reviews apply to you, your PIP will only be reviewed every 10 years and the review will be simpler. Your award of PIP may be reviewed by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) at any time, even if you have an award for a fixed amount of time.

When the DWP reviews your claim, you will be sent a letter with a PIP review form. The letter will ask you to complete and return the PIP review form before the date on the letter. If you don’t send the form back in time, the DWP will stop your claim unless you have a good reason for sending it in late. You will need to tell them why you sent the form late.

When the DWP receives your PIP review form, they will decide whether your PIP claim should stop or continue. Limited term awards will not be reviewed with these claimants having no review date as their condition is likely to improve.
