Navigating the challenges of laundry, particularly when it comes to drying garments in damp conditions, can be a real headache.

However, TikTok's Caroline Solomon, a home expert known as @neat. caroline, has shared a game-changing tip that promises to slash the drying time for clothes from all night to just an hour or two.

She's coined this technique the "burrito" method and showcased it in her instructional video, "How to dry clothes fast without a dryer."

In her savvy tutorial, Caroline lays out a towel flat and places a wet shirt at one end. Her next step is to tightly roll the towel and shirt together from the bottom up, akin to making a "burrito".

The key part involves pressing out the excess water with a good deal of force, which Caroline does by kneeling on the rolled-up towel for maximum effect.

After unrolling, hang the piece of clothing on a drying rack, and Caroline assures that it will "will dry in one to two hours instead of overnight".

When Express.co.uk tested the burrito method themselves, they found it remarkably efficient. For those needing to speed up the process even more, Caroline advises using a hairdryer after the burrito technique, which can get your garment bone-dry in "one minute".

Deyan Dimitrov, the cleaning expert and founder of Laundryheap, also weighed in with his own set of "quick-dry" tips, perfect for those grappling with soggy laundry during the chillier seasons.

He offers a golden nugget of wisdom for those drying clothes indoors during the colder months: keep your drying racks a good distance away from walls to encourage air circulation around your air-drying garments and prevent moisture from getting trapped.

After giving your clothes a wash, make sure to hang them as far away from walls as you can; this promotes free airflow around the garments while they're drying and avoids moisture accumulating between the clothes and the wall.

To ensure clothes dry "quickly and effectively", he advises leaving ample space between each item on the line or drying rack. This principle applies to using hangers too; surprisingly, leaving gaps between clothing can "speed up" the drying process by increasing air circulation.

Once your laundry is done, hang your damp attire in spots around your home that are well aired such as hallways or near cosy alcoves (close to radiators, beside windows, or by doors).

Air movement is essential, and placing clothes in these spots, where either warm or cool drafts are more prevalent, will speed up the drying because the air keeps circulating around both the room and the garments.

To fend off any residual dampness or unwelcome musty smells, try a smart pre-drying technique. Begin by laying your freshly laundered items out flat and covering them with a clean towel, followed by a swift iron over the top.

This approach gives the drying process a head start with some initial warmth, while the towel absorbs excess dampness, keeping potential odours in check.
