Hochul’s hateful anti-Republican comments: Letters to the Editor — Nov. 6, 2024

The Issue: Gov. Kathy Hochul’s comments stating that the NY GOP is “anti-American” and “anti-women.”

Democracy is at risk when Gov. Hochul says that New Yorkers who vote Republican in the upcoming general election are anti-women, anti-abortion and anti-American (“Who’s Anti-American, Kat?” Editorial, Oct. 4).

The governor probably forgot that the Republican Party pioneered women’s right to vote, and was the first major party to advocate equal rights and equal pay for women through the National Federation of Republican Women.

Also, California then-Gov. Ronald Reagan signed the “Therapeutic Abortion Act,” which legalized abortion there in 1967.

Americans have the freedom to vote for whoever they want and should not be disparaged for making a choice Hochul disagrees with.

Her insular attitude is blatantly un-American.

Excuse me, Gov. Hochul: Wasn’t it your party that couldn’t tell us the definition of a woman?

Wasn’t it your party that sent the Justice Department after women who protected their children at school?

Wasn’t it your party that allowed transgender people to compete in women’s sports?

And you’re supposedly for women?

If your statement were not so hurtful to Republicans, it might be laughable.

Who are you, the leader of a corrupt government and a state in disrepair, to tell us that if we vote Republican, we’re anti-American?

If we disagree with someone, we should engage in civil and constructive dialogue with them, not mock or ridicule them.

Gov. Hochul is a prime example of how far the Democratic Party has veered to the radical left.

The most anti-American positions include an open border, funding Iran’s theocracy, limiting energy production, forcing EV production, regulating small businesses out of business, defunding the police, censoring then jailing opponents and pitting biological men against women in sports.
