Kamala Harris’ pathetic ‘60 Minutes’ dodge on border questions is part of her game plan

· New York Post

Asked on “The View” Tuesday if she would’ve done anything differently than Joe Biden, Kamala Harris replied: “Not a thing comes to mind.”

Then she boasted she’s “been a part of most of the decisions that have had impact.”

This, from a candidate who keeps telling America it’s time to “turn the page.”

No wonder she dodges real reporters.

Even the beyond-friendly View gals can accidentally trip her up, with a question she had to have considered, right?

(Unless she just does no self-reflection at all, which would explain a lot).

But her decision to own all of Biden’s legacy helps explains her pathetic non-answers on the border crisis.

In her “60 Minutes” interview, CBS’s Bill Whittaker asked why — if her team’s recent crackdown has dramatically reduced crossings — didn’t she and President Biden “take those steps in 2021”?

Her reply: Congress wouldn’t pass the legislation the White House wanted to fix things.

Huh? Whittaker came back: “But there was an historic flood of undocumented immigrants coming across the border the first three years of your administration.”

“Arrivals quadrupled. . . . Was it a mistake to loosen the immigration policies as much as you did?”

Harris: “It’s a longstanding problem. And solutions are at hand.”

Dodge, evade, dodge — repeat.

Whittaker pressed on: “What I was asking was: Was it a mistake to kind of allow that flood to happen in the first place?”

“The policies that we have been proposing are about fixing a problem, not promoting a problem, OK?”

“But the numbers did quadruple under your — ”

“Because of what we have done” — in 2024 — “we have cut the flow of the illegal immigration by half.”

In fact, much of what they’ve done is create new ways to enter that they call legal, thereby reducing the official “illegal” statistics.

But Whittaker let that pass, for a simpler question: “Should you have done that” earlier?

And she non-answered again: “We need Congress to be able to act to actually fix the problem.”

Never a word of regret for opening the border in 2021 (nor even an admission that they did), or an explanation for why they didn’t reverse course when the illegal-migrant ebb turned to a flood.

The obvious truth: She and Biden wanted crossings to soar — it was what the Democratic base demanded.

Yet now, with the public furious over the consequences, Harris pretends it was entirely out of their hands.

Of course, blathering nonsense, blaming Republicans, outright lying and even contradicting herself is all she’s got.

And the more people hear her talk, the more votes she loses.

That’s why she had to drop out of her bid for Democrats’ 2020 nomination in 2019.

Harris’ so-called “media blitz” is set to finish up with a Univision town hall on Wednesday.

Will her handlers be able to stop her from doing any more interviews in the final four weeks of the campaign?

If not, she’s a strong risk to talk herself into a Trump landslide.
