Minister to receive Tusla report on Kyran Durnin
by Fiachra Ó Cionnaith, https://www.facebook.com/rtenews/ · RTE.ieA report on Tusla's interactions with the family of Kyran Durnin is due to be sent to Minister for Children Roderic O'Gorman later today.
Mr O’Gorman told reporters the report will outline the Child and Family Agency’s communication with the family.
Tusla said the review will not be made public.
A second report is also due to take place into the education system's interactions with Kyran’s family.
The minister said while he was conscious a garda investigation was continuing into the case, he and his department would act on the key findings immediately.
"I'm due to receive the report later today, so the report will be issued to me in terms of Tusla's engagement with Kyran and his family," he confirmed.
"There will be a separate report issued to Minister Foley in terms of Tusla's education support service which falls within the jurisdiction of the Department of Education and looking at very much the interaction between Kryan and the school authorities.
"My department will engage with Tusla in terms of the immediate implementing of any recommendations of that report. It's a detailed report and we're very conscious that there's an ongoing garda investigation, a murder investigation, right now.
"Importantly, this report will also go to the national review panel, that's the independent body that examines the death of any child who is known to Tusla. The independent report will be considered by the national review panel.
"But we will be acting immediately on any central recommendations," he said.
