A Status Orange rain warning has been issued for Cork and Kerry this Saturday.

Met Éireann said the warning will come into effect from midnight tomorrow until 11pm on Saturday night.

The forecaster said very heavy and persistent rain is expected, with highest accumulations in mountainous areas which could lead to river and coastal flooding, dangerous travelling conditions and travel disruption.

Meanwhile, a Status Yellow rain warning has been issued for five other counties on Saturday.

The warning for counties Clare, Limerick, Waterford, Galway and Mayo will come into place from midnight tomorrow until midnight on Saturday.

Heavy and persistent rain is expected, with the possibility of localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.
