A mother has shared her daughter's tragic last words before she was mauled to death by a brown bear and its three cubs.

Olga Moskalyova, 19, was on the phone to her mum, Tatiana, as she was torn apart and eaten by the bears for more than an hour. The distraught mother was unable to help her as she heard her scream: "Mum, the bear is eating me! Mum, it's such agony. Mum, help!". Olga's stepfather, Igor Tsyganenkov, had already fallen victim to the animals by the time she called her mum, which had broken his neck and smashed his skull. After witnessing Igor's attack near a river in the village of Termalniy, Russia, Olga, a trainee psychologist, attempted to flee but was caught by the mother bear, which grabbed her leg.

As the bear toyed with her, Olga managed to make several calls to her mother, who initially thought her daughter was joking. But it was not long before Tatiana was left feeling shocked and completely helpless to save her daughter, as the seriousness of the situation set in.

In one of the later calls to her mum, a weakened Olga cried out: "Mum, the bears are back. She came back and brought her three babies. They're... eating me", reports the Daily Star. In her final call, almost an hour after the first, Olga appeared to sense her life slipping away, and said: "Mum, it's not hurting any more. I don't feel the pain. Forgive me for everything, I love you so much."

The call was then cut off, and Tatiana never heard from her daughter again. When emergency services arrived, they found the bear still eating the bodies of Olga and her stepfather.

In an emotional tribute to her daughter, Tatiana said: "My daughter was such fun. She was so cheerful, friendly, and warm. She had graduated from music school, and just days before the bear attack she got her driving licence."

The incident in 2011 continues to spark horrified reactions online. One social media user said: "I feel so sorry for her mother to go through the horror of the last few minutes of her daughter been eaten alive by the bear. It reaffirmed my mind never ever to go out camping in the wild or step into the wild territory."

Another person offered their sympathies but warned of the dangers of straying into bear territory without protective gear, and said: "The story made me feel very sick but I have to agree that these people should never have been in bear territory without protection. My heart goes out to the family of the victims but you cant blame a hungry mother with 3 babies to feed for doing what comes naturally. Lessons need to be learnt." A third commenter said: "How cruel is that...hearing someone you love die horribly and not being able to do anything about it. Still, there's some small comfort in being able to at least say goodbye."
