Mum's chilling texts after 'allowing boyfriend to kill and discipline' her son, 3, to 'toughen him up'

A mum sent chilling texts after her three-year-old son was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend after she left him with the tot to "discipline" him and "toughen him up", police believe.

Little Elijah Vue's remains were found on September 7 after he went missing on February 20. On Thursday, homicide charges were levelled against Vue's mum Katrina Baur and her partner Jesse Vang; they'd already faced child neglect charges when Vue was still considered missing, but the grim discovery escalated the case.

It is suspected by police that Vang murdered Vue after Baur left him with his boyfriend for discipline, intended to "toughen up" the boy, say authorities. Initial reports from Vang stated he found Vue missing upon waking up, but now it's emerged that Baur might have attempted to prevent Vang from speaking to law enforcement.

Per WFRV, Baur reportedly messaged her boyfriend, "Don't say too much" and "Attorney K."

She insinuated that the cops were trying to pin the crime on Vang, although prosecutors argue that both Vang and Baur played roles in Vue's death and subsequent concealment of his body, reports the Mirror US. The boy's remains were found by a deer hunter who alerted the Manitowoc Country Sheriff's Office in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, US.

Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre condemned Baur's actions, saying: "Ms. Baur allowed and sent the victim to the residence for boot camp and discipline. She condoned it and allowed it to happen and left him there days before he passed away when she had the opportunity to remove him from that situation."

"Furthermore, he attempted to cover up his crime with the hiding a corpse charge where he did try to conceal where our victim was placed and, as the court was aware, it did take an amount of time for us to actually locate where the victim was, so he did try to conceal the crime as well," LaBre said, per WBAY. The body of Vue was discovered by a deer hunter long after officials believe he passed away.

WFRV reported that Fond du Lac County medical examiner confirmed the death as a homicide by unspecified means. Vang is facing charges including physical abuse of a child, repeated acts toward causing death, hiding a corpse, and obstructing an officer.

Baur, from Wisconsin, has been charged with chronic neglect of a child and obstructing an officer as well, however both have denied any involvement in Vue's disappearance or death.
