A six-year-old girl who was tragically found dead in a house after it burst into flames has been described by her heartbroken family as the "most happy, smiley little girl".

Chamiah Brindley's lifeless body was discovered after the blaze broke out on Bedale Drive, Leicester on Tuesday, September 10. Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 4am, before others inside the address were taken to hospital for treatment as a precaution.

In a touching statement released by Chamiah's mum on Wednesday, the youngster was described as a "curious" and "inquisitive" girl who was "always wondering what's going on in the world".

The mum added: "Chamiah, known as Miah, was the most happy, smiley little girl anyone could ever meet. Chamiah had a love for food and was always one to try everything. She was one of 11 siblings, loved her brothers and sisters, and was especially close to her older brother, Dre, as they were close in age."

"She loved school, joining in activities and racing up and down the street with her brothers and friends. She was very outspoken and wasn't afraid to tell people what she thought. She was the ray of sunshine that shone when your day was cloudy. Miah was loved by all and is missed incredibly."

An investigation led by Leicestershire Police and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service found that the fire had accidentally broken out. A 14-year-old girl was initially arrested in connection with the incident, but later released with no further action.

Chamiah's dad said: "Chamiah was full of life and very loving, extremely caring, full of smiles for everyone, always happy and playing. It is still hard for me to come to terms with what has happened and still not real to me that my daughter is gone, and I will never see her again. I will miss my daughter so dearly, but she will always be in my thoughts and heart. Rest in peace my little angel, until we meet again."

Chamiah's parents were not named in the statement, which was released by Leicestershire police. Detective Inspector Michael Chandler said: “This investigation has been complex, tragic and completely heartbreaking. Our thoughts remain with the family and all those who are going through the most difficult and unimaginable time. The family has asked for privacy at this time and we ask that this is please respected."
