Victoria Taylor: Mystery behind missing mum - unanswered question, CCTV clue and major police update

Victoria Taylor's disappearance a week ago has left several questions unanswered, after an earlier update from police gave more information as to how the investigation is progressing

Popular mum Victoria Taylor has been missing for more than a week, with every day seemingly bringing new questions for her worried friends and family.

The 34-year-old was last seen at her home in Malton, North Yorkshire , on Monday morning at about 9am. She has not contacted her family or friends in that time, although last week police released an image of Victoria taken from CCTV at a BP garage two hours after she was last seen, sparking a huge search of the local area.

On Monday, North Yorkshire Police confirmed another sighting of the nurse - at a bus station. Below we go through some of the questions raised so far as the search goes into its second week.

Unanswered question from CCTV clues

To date, North Yorkshire Police has discovered two occasions Victoria was caught on CCTV on the Monday before vanishing. The first was from 11.35am at the BP garage on Welham Road, in the Norton area of Malton.

She was in the image wearing blue jeans and a black Adidas puffa jacket, which can be seen in the image. For several days, this was the last time she was seen.

In a fresh update, police revealed she was seen at 11.53am that Monday at Malton Bus Station on Railway Street. There were 18 minutes between the two sightings.

They beg several questions - where was she and what was she doing? Victoria’s family will hope she is one day able to answer these queries.

CCTV clues that ask more questions

Today’s update from North Yorkshire Police answered one question, but has created several more. We now know where Victoria went after leaving the BP garage as she was pictured at the bus station 18 minutes later.

According to Google Maps, the two locations are an eight-minute walk, which possibly accounts for some of the time between her two sightings. But it still leaves 10 minutes unaccounted for.

The main question of course is why was Victoria at the bus stop on a Monday morning in October? Police are, as of yet, unable to say.

Today’s update from the police

Police investigating Victoria’s disappearance gave an update on Monday, as they revealed they were “open minded” as they continue enquiries.

Officers have reviewed CCTV, undertaken extensive enquiries, interviewed several witnesses and searched both “land and water”. Some of Victoria’s belongings were found close to the River Derwent the day after she vanished, which is where officers are concurrently focused.

Despite the hard work and effort, there is no sign of the popular mum. The force said in the update: “We remain open minded and, whilst the investigation of Victoria’s movements has been thorough, we will continue to pursue existing and new lines of enquiry.

“Based on information obtained from these exhaustive enquiries, North Yorkshire Police is satisfied at the current time that there is no information to suggest any form of third-party involvement following the disappearance of Victoria and this remains a missing person case.”

What about friends, family and interested parties of Victoria?

The main thrust of the search for Victoria by her family and friends is via a Facebook page created last week.

Victoria, with her partner Matthew

It now has more than 8,000 followers where people can put forward their own ideas, offer of help and support. In the local area, people are printing out posters and putting them up. Her story has been shared extensively. In short, her friends and family are doing all they can on their part to find Victoria. But she remains missing.

Last week, her sisters launched an emotional appeal for her to make contact with them as police divers continued their search in a river last week. It comes after her personal possessions were located close to the River Derwent. Her sisters Emma and Heidi said they "currently feel sick, distraught and lost."

What of Victoria’s partner?

It has been reported Victoria was to marry her partner Matthew Grant Williams, with whom she shares a home and their two-year-old daughter. Yesterday it was revealed he has been targeted by cruel trolls who have pointed the finger at him over her disappearance .

One said on a public Facebook group designed to help support the search: "It's sad to see people pointing the finger at her partner. It's cruel as he is going through enough already without people doing that." To which, another friend said: "It really is, he's absolutely devastated."
