P Diddy files third appeal for jail release on $50m bond and claims he's 'not a threat'

P Diddy has lodged a third formal attempt to be released on bail following his arrest last month on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution

P Diddy has filed yet another appeal to be freed from jail while he awaits his court date.

The rapper, whose real name is Sean Combs, was arrested last month on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. The 54-year-old musician was ordered to be held without bail despite his lawyers offering $50million (£38m) for bail and in-home detention.

He is now appealing the bail decision and his legal team have filed papers requesting his release. The documents reportedly state the star's team argues he doesn't hold a conceivable flight risk despite the claims made by federal prosecutors.

According to TMZ, Diddy's lawyers say the huge bail offer includes enough restrictions to address any possible concerns about witness tampering and flight risk package. The publication states the offer included Diddy having no female visitors outside of his family before his trial.

According to legal documents filed by the rapper seen by the Daily Mail, his legal team have argued that he is "not a threat to the community".

It's the third formal attempt by Diddy and his team to get the rapper freed from jail ahead of his case. The Bad Boy Records founder denies all charges made against him.

He currently faces 100 allegations of sexual abuse (a combination of criminal and civil suits), and is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York while he awaits trial. Former high-profile inmates have included the likes of R Kelly and Ghislaine Maxwell.

The penitentiary was described as 'hell on earth' by a lawyer called Andrew Dalack who took on the case of DC inmate Edwin Cordero died after being injured in a fight. The facility was initially opened in the early '90s and has come under scrutiny on a number of occasions. Notable problems include overcrowding and staff shortages, with court filings from November 2023 finding that the prison was operating at just 55 per cent of full staffing levels.

Despite Diddy's incarceration, reports claim celebrities are still "afraid to cross him". Speaking to People, a source said: "He's so powerful. Everyone was afraid to cross him. Even though he's behind bars now, he's still so powerful. We all knew it even back then."

The source went on: "Everyone always chalked it up to being a creative genius when it came to his obsession with controlling things."

Attorney Tony Buzbee, who says he is representing around 120 alleged victims, claimed some famous faces have been given the chance to pay their victims to settle out of court and keep their names hidden.

He told TMZ: "Everyone is focused on what other celebrities were involved, who is going to be named, who is going to be outed. I don't expect that to happen this week. We want to make sure if we name individuals beyond Mr Combs that, we have done our homework because it is going to create a firestorm, and we understand that. If you were there in the room, participated, watched it happen and didn't say anything or helped cover it up, in my view, you have a problem."
