Manchester hit and run: Six people injured in crash on suburban street in Bonfire Night horror

The horror happened on Bob Massey Close in Openshaw, Manchester, at around 8.30pm last night, and a man has since been arrested. A group of people had gathered in the residential street for Bonfire Night celebrations when the vehicle was driven into a number of pedestrians, it is believed.
But the driver allegedly failed to stop at the scene after the crash. Emergency services taped off the area amid investigations into the horror smash.
Officers on patrol later arrested a man on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, assault on an emergency worker, possession with intent to supply and failing to stop for police.
Speaking to Manchester Evening News, a police spokesperson confirmed six people were taken to hospital. No further information, such as the nature and extent of these injuries, was disclosed.
The Greater Manchester Police spokesperson added: "Police responded shortly after 8.30pm earlier this evening (5 November 2024) to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and pedestrians on Bob Massey Close in Openshaw.
"Emergency services attended an six people were reported to have suffered injuries and were taken to hospital. The vehicle that collided with the pedestrians failed to stop at the scene following the collision. Enquiries remain ongoing and a scene is in place on Bob Massey Close whilst officers carry out their enquiries.
