A huge stash of North Korean ammunition has gone up in smoke inside Russia just 70 miles from the Ukrainian border.

The Putin storage facility was hit in a major kamikaze drone strike by Volodymyr Zelensky’s forces. Guided aerial bombs as well as munitions supplied by Kim Jong Un were held at the secret facility in Karachev, Bryansk region. Russian claimed to have shot down two dozen drones targeting the area.

But enough got through to explode the munitions stashed at the 67th arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of Russia’s Ministry of Defence, triggering a “wail of a sirens from 2am”. It is the latest in a series of Russian ammunition storage depots attacked by Ukraine.

A state of emergency was declared in Karachev in the wake of the strike with a mass evacuation. Astonishingly, the careless Russians stored ammunition in the open air — as well as in bunkers. Recently Ukraine hit another major ammunition facility in Tver region - but today’s hot was far closer to the Ukrainian border, with North Korean munitions moved into place for use against key targets.

Meanwhile, a major Ukrainian strike on occupied Crimea’s biggest marine oil terminal had caused chaos for Vladimir Putin’s forces. The facility was still burning in Feodosia more than 18 hours after it was hit in a missile strike.
