M62 delays: Heavy traffic on motorway as drivers warned

by · Manchester Evening News

Drivers have been urged to allow for extra time if using the M62 motorway this morning as repairs are carried out.

One lane is closed off on the eastbound carriageway near junction 25 for Brighouse. This is due to a carriageway defect, National Highways said.

Emergency repair works are being carried out, with the lane closure expected to remain closed throughout the morning. Motorway cameras show heavy traffic up to the incident, with congestion currently back to junction 23.

Yesterday afternoon, drivers faced two hours delays on the M62 after a car towing a trailer overturned. The crash happened on the eastbound stretch of the motorway, heading from Greater Manchester towards Yorkshire, between junction 22 for Rishworth Moor and junction 23 for Huddersfield, shortly after midday.

Thankfully no one was left injured. Huge queues formed as lanes were closed off, with drivers facing delays of up to two hours into the afternoon.
