Inquests into the deaths of four British victims of the Bayesian superyacht sinking off the coast of Sicily, including tech tycoon Mike Lynch, are set to open today.

Dr Lynch, 59, a billionaire who established software giant Autonomy in 1996, was aboard the vessel when it capsized during a storm in August. His daughter Hannah Lynch, 18, Morgan Stanley International bank chairman Jonathan Bloomer, 70, and his wife Judy Bloomer, 71, also lost their lives in the disaster.

The inquests into the deaths of the four individuals are scheduled to be opened at hearings in Ipswich, Suffolk, on Friday.

According to coroner's service listings, Dr Lynch and his daughter lived in London, while the Bloomers were based in Sevenoaks in Kent. All four passed away on August 19.

Nigel Parsley, Suffolk's senior coroner, is expected to preside over the hearings on Friday.

There were 22 passengers on board the Bayesian, with 15 survivors, including Dr Lynch's wife Angela Bacares.

Seven individuals died in the tragedy, including US lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda Morvillo, as well as Canadian-Antiguan national Recaldo Thomas who was employed as a chef on the vessel.

Dr Lynch was cleared in June of carrying out a massive fraud over the sale of Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard (HP) in 2011. The boat trip was intended as a celebration of his acquittal in the case in the US.
