A young man killed in a crash on the M61 has been named and pictured as his devastated family paid tribute.

David Eubank, 20, from Bolton, was a back seat passenger in a Citroen C1 car which crashed with a Mercedes near Rivington services on Tuesday night. Three other people - the drivers of both car and a second passenger in the Citroen - were seriously injured.

Police said the Citroen hit a barrier then collided with the Mercedes. A stretch of the southbound motorway was closed for more than 12 hours following the crash at around 11.30pm.

"David was so much loved by all who knew him. He has left a massive hole in our hearts – we are devastated by his loss."

A police investigation is ongoing. Officers have appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage.
