Police cordon off Manchester city centre street with officers on scene

A street in Manchester city centre has been cordoned off by police this morning.

Pictures show the cordon in place on Back Piccadilly in the Northern Quarter. The narrow street is taped off from Oldham Street near the Craft Pig bar to Spear Street.

Officers are stationed on the scene with at least one police van in attendance. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said officers responded to reports of a man suffering from a medical episode at around 9.30am this morning.

Paramedics were called to the scene. It has not yet been confirmed whether the man was taken to hospital.

No further details about the incident have been released at this stage.
