Police detain 'aggressive male' as emergency crews descend on flats

An 'aggressive male' has been detained after emergency services were called to a block of flats in Salford this morning.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a number of police vehicles outside Moores House and Pearson House on Barton Lane in Eccles earlier today (Friday). Fire crews and paramedics were also called to the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said officers were called to the scene at around 8.10am. Members of the public called in with reports of a male 'acting aggressively'.

There were also concerns raised over a potential gas leak, the Manchester Evening News understands, but no leak was found. There is no wider threat to the public and the man has since been detained over concerns for his welfare.

No further details have been released at this stage. The emergency response is now believed to have been scaled down.
