Delhi Police Special Cell on Thursday busted another drug trafficking bid and seized around 200 kilograms of cocaine from a warehouse in the capital's Ramesh Nagar area. The seized contraband is reportedly valued at Rs 2000 crore. The latest drug haul is said to be linked with the same syndicate busted by the Delhi Police last week when drugs worth Rs 5,600 crore were seized.

The syndicate was busted as the car used to transport the cocaine was equipped with a GPS. This helped the police to carry out their operation after tracking the GPS location. According to media reports, the man accused of bringing the cocaine to Delhi has fled to London.

The police said that the drug consignment was discovered from a closed shop in Ramesh Nagar. The drug was kept inside packets of 'namkeen'.

With this, the cops have seized a total of 762 kg of drugs, valued over Rs 7,500 crore in a week, making it the biggest drug haul in the country, NDTV reported.

Last week, the Delhi Police had seized over 560 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana, estimated to be worth Rs 5,620 crore. These drugs were confiscated from a godown in Mahipalpur in south Delhi on October 2.

Four people, identified as Tushar Goyal (40), Himanshu Kumar (27) and Aurangzeb Siddiqui (23) and Bharat Kumar Jain (48), were arrested on the spot during the raid, while two others were subsequently held from Amritsar and Chennai.

Special Cell cops had arrested Jitendra Pal Singh, called Jassi, from Amritsar, while he was attempting to escape and fly to the UK. This has made the cops suspicious that both the drug syndicates might be linked and connected to a pan-India network smuggling illegal drugs into India.

Jassi has been living in the UK for the past 17 years as a permanent resident. The cops were alerted about his attempt to flee as they had issued a look-out circular against him. Authorities also believe that this drug syndicate, which operates out of Mumbai and Delhi, is also connected to Dubai, NDTV reported.

Meanwhile, another person, Akhlak, was arrested from Uttar Pradesh's Hapur earlier today. Akhlak is accused of helping in the transportation of drugs in northern India.

Delhi Police has also issued a lookout circular (LOC) against Indian-origin Dubai-based businessman Virender Basoya, who is suspected to be involved in the Rs 5,620 crore drug cartel.
