Iran launched a barrage of ballistic missiles at Israel in an unprecedented strike in revenge for the recent killings of the Hezbollah and Hamas leaders.

Daniel Carmon, Former Israeli Ambassador to India, who was in Tel Aviv during the bombing said that he was in a bomb shelter and getting the news on TV.

Iran launched over 200 ballistic missiles towards Israel on Tuesday night. The Israeli military said most of the missiles were intercepted, but a small number struck central and southern part of the country. The only person reported to have been killed was a Palestinian man in the occupied West Bank.

Narrating the events that unfolded on Tuesday night, the former envoy told ANI, "For two hours, we were closed in a bomb shelter, getting news on TV... 10 million people, which is the whole population of Israel were in shelters last night for two hours, this is incredible and impossible. Yesterday, it was the biggest ballistic and missile attack in human history. Luckily, we have an air defence system having three to four layers."

He said that despite the bombings, there was no real damage or loss of life, except one Palestinian worker was killed.

He further said that though the city looks normal, but the people are worried deep inside of whether Houthis, Hezbollah or Hamas will launch new strike.

"You can see a little damage but no real damage and loss of life except one Palestinian worker... The city looks normal, as if nothing has happened but deep inside we are worried. We are not sure if Houthis, Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran, or Iraq will launch or not launch new missiles," Carmon said.

He said that the situation is very complicated but went on to say that it is clear that Iran will have to pay the price for what it did on Tuesday.

"I don't have to be an official spokesperson to tell you that. Iran was warned not to do what it did yesterday by the international community," he added.

Speaking of the threats to Israel, Daniel Carmon said, "Israel is facing seven fronts - three major ones. Houthis, Iraq, West Bank, Syria, Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran... It's an impossible situation but we are prevailing because we have capabilities, we have a very good Army, defence system, air defence system and partners who helped us yesterday, like the US."

He added that the countries backing Iran include Turkey, Russia, China, Lebanon and Yemen.
