A man has issued a warning to Brits about visiting a particular area in Turkey due to a "big time scam" that's currently circulating.

Scott, who goes by the handle official_scottylum2 on TikTok, recently shared a video detailing the issue. The content creator, who chronicles life in Turkey, mentioned there's one thing holidaymakers need to be "very careful" with in Armutalan, Marmaris.

He confessed he would never discourage anyone from visiting the area, as it provides the "kind of vibe" people seek when they're on holiday. However, he also emphasised the need for visitors to exercise caution during their stays.

He warned: "Try to not bring your bank card out. Me personally, I got scammed for a considerable amount of money. I'm not even going to go into it, but be careful of people looking at you while you type your card number in. Be very vigilant here. Now, also be very careful of the drinks here. I've made a video about this before. Just be very careful with them."

He said people need to be wary of bar staff giving them "concoctions" of different types of alcohol. He also urged people to be careful when ordering fishbowls, and noted it's also important to check what's in them.

Scott also advised travellers to pay for their drinks one at a time, because some people will be "adding drinks on willy nilly". He admitted this doesn't happen everywhere, but it can occur at the most unexpected times.

He signed the video off by saying "trust me", and it's caught a lot of people's attention. The clip has since been viewed more than 70,000 times, and people were keen to share their thoughts too.

One individual who adores the area commented: "I've been to Marmaris for years, and it's always been fine for me." Another chimed in with: "I lived in Armutalan and was very safe walking home at 2am."

However, some tourists concurred with Scott's warning, confessing they've noticed some changes in recent times. One added: "Armutalan is my favourite but, I've just come back, and this year you do need to keep your whits about you. Area is lovely, staffy not pushy at all."

Another person responded: "I don't like it in Armutalan." Meanwhile, one more wrote: "I went there about 20 years ago, it was so peaceful. It's changed so much."
