Girl who stabbed school pal 19 times in Slender Man attack begs for freedom

To show their dedication to the imaginary horror figure, Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, aged 12, lured Payton Leutner to a Waukesha park after a sleepover, where Geyser stabbed her.

A woman accused of nearly killing a classmate with a knife to satisfy the horror figure Slender Man over 10 years ago requested her release from a mental health facility on Friday.

Morgan Geyser of Wisconsin, who is now 22 years old, petitioned Waukesha County Circuit Judge Michael Bohren for her release from the Winnebago Mental Health Institute. The petition is the third time in the previous two years she has requested Bohren to let her leave the facility, the Mirror reports.

She withdrew her first petition two months after it was filed in 2022. Bohren dismissed her second request in April, claiming she still poses a risk to the public.

The one-page petition contains no arguments for Geyser's release. Instead, it cites state statutes requiring Bohren to appoint at least one expert to evaluate her and deliver a report within 30 days of their appointment. The petition also seeks that the judge schedule a hearing, citing that state law compels him to do so within 30 days after receiving the examiner's report.

In 2014, Geyser and Anissa Weier were 12 years old when they lured Payton Leutner to a Waukesha park following a sleepover. Geyser stabbed Leutner 19 times while Weier urged her on. Leutner miraculously survived.

The girls then told detectives that they wanted to earn the right to be servants of the fictitious Slender Man, and that they were afraid he would hurt their family if they did not carry out the attack.

Geyser pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide and was committed to a psychiatric institution due to mental illness. Weier pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree intentional murder and was transferred to a psychiatric center. She was released in 2021 to live with her father and is required to wear a GPS monitor.

Weier and Geyser were both infatuated with Slender Man, and they intended to murder their classmate Leutner in order to establish themselves as "proxies" for the creature, which they believed existed. Geyser, Weier, and Leutner went to Horning Middle School in Waukesha, Wisconsin, a suburb of Milwaukee.

In reality, Leutner was the first to become friends with Geyser. Leutner told 20/20 that she became friends with Geyser after witnessing her having lunch alone. She also described her ex-friend as amusing and "a little lonely."
